Who are we?
This website is intended for web designers’ clients. There are many existing websites created to inform, provide resources, tutorials, and more to experts. But a place to inform the clients was missing. The design job consists in transforming ideas into objects, the client’s ideas into graphic objects created by the designer, to be more precise. But to accomplish this, there must be a good understanding and communication between them. For this reason, we have created this website, to inform you how to communicate with the designer and get to understand each other.
But that’s not all. We won’t only help you to communicate your ideas, but to improve and polish them up. We won’t only allow you to optimize the communication, but to accomplish conceptual improvements before transmitting this information. In other words, the aim of this website is to inform and advise you so that you can analyze every aspect of web design that require analysis and, after you have done this and discussed it with the designer, you can transmit your ideas clearly.
The client’s active participation is necessary for an accurate design development, but this involvement should always be connected with the designer work. The expert you hire should work as a regulator of the work done —apart from the one who will carry out the job in practice—: the designer should boost and optimize the client’s good ideas, improving them and modify them till they accomplish the desired result. He also should advise and discourage decisions based on the client’s personal taste or that are simply bad or old-fashioned. Luckily, the key to accomplish an excellent design work exists: the combination of the client’s and the designer’s involvement and a good relationship between them. If these three elements are combined, the design will be a success. The aim is to work as a team, that is, to create a working team that empowers itself and improves the particular competences.
To inform you accurately and to accomplish a better understanding of the concepts, we have divided this website into different pages that deal with a specific subject. As we don’t expect you to become an expert, we only deal with subjects that are strictly related to the client’s decisions and choices and not with technical matters which are not important here —a website intended for clients. Each section of this website deals with a specific subject, starting with the simplest ideas and going to the most difficult matters. This is why we recommend you read every section of this website, without skipping any one of them. However, as we know reading on the internet is not a meticulous habit, we have developed and written each section so that they explain themselves and you can deal with each one independently.
Web Design: this is a brief introduction to web design. This section deals with subjects of no practical interest, but that are useful for those who don’t know much about it and want to move slowly so as not to get lost.
Website Features: this section deals with the three main features of a website. In this section, we deal with practical-theoretical matters to accomplish a better design. Knowing the features of a website, you will know what you can and cannot do with it, which elements you shouldn’t use because they don’t match, and which are coherent for the design you are looking for.
Website Functions: this section explains the three basic functions of a website as a commercial, advertisement and promotional tool. Here we focus on websites as marketing tools and help you think how to exploit your website to accomplish the best results and to obtain the most accurate application for your company and market.
Colors and Typography: this is a more technical section that deals with sources and web design chromatic schemes. We deal with these two specific elements —colors and typography— because generally the clients are the ones who choose the colors and typographies of their designs, or at least make decisions about them.
Parts of a Website: on this section we provide a list of basic components that make up a website. It is intended to help you know Internet-related concepts better, lending a perspective and putting together all of the elements that make up a website so that you analyze the design you want clearly and accurately.
Designer-Client Relation: this section is different to the rest because it doesn't deal with design issues. This section is intended to advise you so that you can accomplish a good and effective relationship with the person you hire. As we said before, on this depends the success of a design project. By providing a few examples of common errors, we intend to warn you for you not to make the same mistakes and to be careful.
We want to welcome you to this integral website intended for clients. We also want to thank you for choosing us to help you with this new project you are working on. Our hope is that we are as helpful as possible. We now invite you to navigate this website we created for you.
